Requirements at a glance
- Size: 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm)
- Head height: 1 to 1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm), measured from chin to the top of the head
- Eye height: roughly 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches from the bottom of the photo
- Background: plain white or off-white, with no shadows or patterns
- Expression: neutral or a natural smile, both eyes open and visible
- No glasses, unless worn for a documented medical reason
- Taken within the last 6 months, in color, with no filters or digital retouching
